Coffe + Design Talk
December 5, 2020Conversations over coffee! Saturday blog.
For those who know me, you know how much I love coffee. Actually that’s why I decided to create a regular Saturday post, drinking my coffee and talking about the latest trends for creatives.
Every Saturday Coffee + Design will introduce you to how to grow your skills, discover new amazing designers in the industry that can inspire you and give you tips to keep up your motivation.
Talk today- “Discover your superpowers”
Weather you are just starting out or simply want to read inspiring material that’s the right place. Today I am showing you what is the superpower you can use in your creative career:
1. Flexibility
Being in the design field means you will often adapt to new environments. Actually that is a great skill to develop which can take you far ahead!
2. Curiosity
If you have a passion for learning, you are right on track. Being curious means you are always interested in learning more. Design studies don’t end up with your master’s degree. Actually that is when real learning starts - when you commit to being more, learning more and doing more.
3. Enthusiasm
Having the desire to create, not putting stuff of until last minute and just enjoying what you do! One of the things that is clearly shown in your work is enthusiasm. It’s not even about talent. It is about effort. It can’t be missed.
4.learning is more important than proving.
In the beginning of your career, the best thing is not job titles, but experience. Even if you get an internship for exact skill you want to learn is much better than taking a job that makes you unhappy. Focus on your long term goals.
5. Understand human psychology.
Design has become the bridge between humans and tech. The role of UX designers has a lot to do with the psychological thought of customers. I see in the future the two fields of psychology and design to interact much more than before! After all we design for humans and we need to understand their needs. Not just in communication but in overall reaction to the work we create and how it affects others. I personally love reading psychology books and it has helped me a lot in taking the right decisions.
6. Mentor
Your superpower is asking questions! If you are in doubt how to do this or that you simply have to find someone who has done it before you. Even if they don’t reply I am sure there is plenty of advanced level designer who will also be happy to answer your message. Getting a mentor can also be great! It will guarantee you that you keep your work up and you will be more clear on your next step! Be careful who you choose!
I hope this post helped you, or at least gave you some directions on how to use your true powers! Please share it, so more people can benefit ! Also I just finished my coffee so keep up with the blog posts and if you found this interesting, next week I will introduce you to a new designer, so we can have more coffee and design talk !
