On Self-learning for Designers

NEWS

So far this year, with the consequences of a lockdown I learned plenty of stuff and realised the power of self-learning and motivating yourself to do the work. I want to help everyone who wants to evolve as an artist/ designer to do better work and be organised. There is so many principles of

a ” good work” of what leads you to be successful and satisfied with your work.

I am currently working on a bigger project that will involve masterclass/ workshops + online courses on how to improve your creativity and I will share my experiences with you.

Here is a few tips on  the power of Branding.

1. Know your why.

What does your art need to show? Do you design for something specific? Knowing your why determines what your values are or what values you want to create. Does your main topic involve new technology, the future, environmental change, human psychology, human rights, perception? That is just a short list of what you can focus on. Now make a list and let yourself think what topics resonate with you most. Do you want to tell stories, engage an audience or get better at organising? Everything starts with planning. Knowing your why is the first step to making yourself a brand.

2. Establishing a brand.

Brand Image, Brand Identity and Brand Management are all topics you need to become familiar with. Branding has become such an important part of art and design practices. It relies on undertanding the relationship between product -service-client. It is more than necessary for you, and here I open the door : to self -learn, read books and check courses online on the topic of Branding. And there is plenty of those. Mastering this skill and establishing your brand presence online will move you to the next level.

3. Learning continues

School of Life- School of Creativity.

I can’t stress on how important it is to continue learning. After your high-school, after your degree, after that specialisation. Make self- learning your power. Learn a thing a day - to get you to where you want to be. Clarity to what your dream is needs to make you a constant learner. All of the avaibale books, courses, social media and you tube are there to help you not waste time but be a better version of yourself. Only you are responsible for your time and how you spend it. Where you want to be tomorrow and what skills need to be implemented today?

Disrupt the stillness - Inspired Artwork

The new reality has put its walls around us. We are in the same cities like before, but we want to escape. Disrupt the ordinary through the use of art - that is the role of artists. Its even more significant in these days when music, art and architecture helps us escape the stillness of the ordinary day and lets out imagination develop.

Also I have found this: written by Daniel J Botha

“Art can help us heal. Doing creative art is telling our stories in a non-verbal way and has the unique power to help restore us. We all have stories. Many of us struggle to get our stories out and get it heard.”

“Art can be medicine. Art is a non-verbal way of telling stories. In a non-intimidating way, art therapy can help people decrease and manage emotional suffering. Looking at visual art (paintings, drawings, and sculptures), listening to music, and attending plays and theatrical performances have proven health benefits. But participating in those art forms, doing the actual art, (e.g. painting with a brush, playing with clay and sculpting an object or playing the musical instrument) have even greater health and personal benefits.”
